Black Faculty & Staff Association

The Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) is dedicated to improving the quality of the Black experience at UNCW by fostering a campus climate that is inviting, unified, encouraging. The BFSA promotes issues and concerns that Black faculty, staff and students face including mentoring, tutoring, recruitment, retention and promotion. You can support the work of UNCW's Black Faculty and Staff Association by giving to one of these priority funds:

  • BFSA - a gift to this fund provides an additional layer of financial support that the executive board can use to enhance opportunities to meet its mission and goals
  • Dr. Lynne Reeder and Dr. Earl Sheridan Merit Scholarship - this scholarship, originally known as the UNCW Black Faculty and Staff Association Merit Scholarship, was renamed in 2020 in honor of former members Dr. B. Lynne Reeder and Dr. Earl Sheridan. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated leadership in working with the African American community.
