UNCW’s efforts to advance research and scholarly activities have earned the university the elevated designation of “Doctoral Universities: High Research Activity” institution, according to the newly released Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
Gifts supporting the research and innovation enterprise provide resources to enable faculty to conduct ground-breaking research, with students, to address emerging issues in our region, state, and beyond.
Innovation at UNCW takes many forms. Learn about our translational research and entrepreneurial efforts below.
- Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) - support the OIC which offers an integrated, "one-stop shopping" resource for identifying, supporting, and enhancing the commercialization of technologies and solutions from the UNCW Community.
- Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) - giving to the CIE nurtures emerging companies and works to accelerate the entrepreneurial ecosystem in southeastern North Carolina.
- Fish 2.0 - Save our coastlines, oceans, and marine life. Help our faculty, students, alumni, and CIE entrepreneurs solve critical problems in the marine environment with new ventures and sustainable technologies. Watch a video about FISH 2.0.
The CIE director, Diane Durance, will give a $1,000 personal donation if $9,000 is donated to the CIE or Fish 2.0 funds during Give More in 24.
