A well-rounded college experience extends beyond the academic excellence offered within UNCW’s classrooms. The Parent Opportunity Fund provides students with opportunities to explore new ideas and interests, develop leadership skills and provides activities to foster friendships in a safe and healthy environment. With tuition and fees only covering about 30% of a UNCW education, the Chancellor allocates gifts to the Parent Opportunity Fund to support initiatives like:
- UNCWeekend programming that provides a variety of both on and off campus activities like bowling, bingo, laser tag and more
- Annual Seahawk Student Leadership Conference which focuses on personal and organizational leadership, social justice and navigating a career path
- Diverse speakers series and cultural events, like Chinese New Year celebrations, that expose students to new cultures so that they can become successful global citizens
- Career service offerings like internship fairs and resume review workshops
Parent Participation Challenge
If 200 parents (of current students) make a gift of any amount, to any area of the University, $5,000 will be allocated to the Parent Opportunity Fund.
